The Jenner/Kardashian Clan is at it again, promoting themselves in as many shameless and garish circumstances as possible. First, the shameless:
Kyle Jenner made worldwide headlines by landing the December cover of Interview Magazine. The photographs were shot by world renowned fashion photographer Steven Klein. The photos have Kylie deliberately emulating a doll, striking stiff poses like a raven-haired, big bummed Barbie. Don’t believe me? Check out this pose, featuring Kylie holding a tray of glasses like a cocktail waitress who just happens to have her butt cheeks hanging out.
Now, the garish: Some of the shots of Kylie show her immobilized in a gold wheelchair. To say these photos are in bad taste is an understatement. People who actually use wheelchairs took to the internet to express their disappointment about seeing a wheelchair used as some kind of screwed up fashion statement. The rage about Kylie’s pretend disability happened to coincide with a mass shooting that took place at a center that served people with disabilities in San Bernardino, California. It would be easy to point this as a PR faux pas on Kylie’s part, but just look at the consequences: people are clicking on her photographs all over the world.
Despite the publicity mess, Kylie has proven to be a master at getting everyone talking about her. Kylie is just 18 years old, but she’s on pace to challenge big sister Kim in the butt and boyfriend sweepstakes. Kim married her first husband, a music producer, at just 19 years old before having a high profile romance with football player Reggie Bush and a quickie marriage and divorce to basketball player Kris Humprhies. Then she landed the biggest fish in the game, Kanye West. But Kylie has been dating rapper Tyga since she was 17 years old. The two had a big fight before his birthday last month, but they reconciled in time for the Jenner/Kardashian Thanksgiving portrait. Surely she will dump Tyga in the near future to date someone with a higher profile.
Just because Kris Jenner’s daughters are big stars doesn’t mean that Kris is done pulling everyone’s strings. In fact, maybe the next photo shoot should reveal that Kris is still the puppet-master! Kris pulled off two big publicity coups in the last two weeks. First came the Thanksgiving portrait of the entire family (minus Rob, more about that below), including Kourtney’s baby daddy Scott Disick and Jenner family patriarch-turned-matriarch Caitlyn Jenner. Disick is fresh off a rehab stint after spending the last year stumbling around drunk with an ex-girlfriend. Although Kourtney allegedly kicked him to the curb for good, now that he is supposed to be sober, he has been welcomed back into the fold.
And who announced that Lord Disick was back? Not Kourtney. Instead it was Kris who made headlines by posting a picture to Instagram showing her hanging with Scott. “This is one of the true loves of my life… Feel so blessed to have him as the baby daddy to my Grandkids… You are amazing @letthelordbewithyou and I love you… #proudmama #memories #family #youareeverything”
You are everything? One of the “loves of my life?” That seems like a creepy thing to say to the man who repeatedly cheated on your daughter, Kris. But Kris is playing the long game, likely getting ready to make Scott and Kourtney’s reconciliation a big part of the next season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
Kris already has a stable of trainwrecks to add to the show’s upcoming storylines, including a still-recovering Lamar Odom and the still-transitioning Caitlyn Jenner. Odom is still hospitalized after a drug overdose. The Kardashian/Jenner clan continue to visit the former NBA All-Star, first making sure all their visits are recorded by camera. Sources are speaking out about Kris’ plan to use Lamar for ratings, noting that he can only mumble and is incontinent, requiring someone to change his adult diapers. Do you really think they ought to be filming this for television? Kris clearly does.
Meanwhile, Caitlyn was on hand for the big Thanksgiving bash, which was hosted by Khloe. The group seemed to be one big happy family for the holiday, but the most recent episode of the reality show featured Caitlyn clashing with her ex-wife at Kylie’s 18th birthday party. When Caitlyn is late for the party, Kim noted that “Bruce” was never late, while Kris claims Cait was “probably working on her look.” Caitlyn was nonplussed by the attacks. “It’s a woman’s prerogative to be a little late,” she said, prompting Kris to order another drink. Make mine a double!
And what ever happened to Rob Kardashian? According to Kris, her only son lives with Khloe so he was around, but went to a friend’s house on Thanksgiving. Kris said Rob “is not as into being on camera as much as the rest of us.” Maybe that’s because Rob is the only sane one of the bunch!
