There are some retail outlets that you sort of take for granted. You just sort of assume that they’re always going to be there for you when you need a plain cotton crew neck t-shirt, or a pair of skinny jeans in a tall inseam. For many of us who came of age in the 80s and 90s, that place was always The GAP. So you can imagine my shock and horror when I read in Vogue about how poor profit margins have forced GAP to shutter over 175 of their stores. According to Vogue, profit margins for the retailer were down 46.8% after the first quarter (which ended on April 30th). It’s been awhile since we’ve had a good, old-fashioned Kanye rant to talk about…at least…one that is significant enough to qualify as “different”. There’s a Kanye rant just about every day in some form or another, so as a writer, you sort of get spoiled for choice, and start to only really sit up and pay attention when it’s a particularly good one.
