How to Navigate Through Social Pressure: Food, Diet, and Exercise

When it comes to diet and exercise almost everyone you meet suddenly transforms into a nutritionist or personal trainer. Anyone who has adopted a different eating or training method understands some of the negative criticism that comes when change is put into effect. Whether it is how you choose to eat, or not eat, the fitness plans or regimens you implement, or even just a change in your outlook, sometimes the people that are closest to us—our family, friends, colleagues, or significant others—might not always react in the way we want them to. There are many difficult barriers to overcome when starting, or maintaining, your changes in your lifestyle—but how do we overcome negativity coming from the people that are closest to us, especially when you feel like the change is for the good...

The 90s Are Back: Street Style Trends From Paris Fashion Week

Get out your satin spaghetti-strap slip dresses, dig that burgundy-taupe lipstick out of the drawer, and stop washing your hair, because if Paris Fashion Week was anything to go by, the 90s are back! The fashion world was already looking-forward to Autumn/Winter 2016-2017, but it was actually the street style stars that set the tone for what’s to come in the new, warmer season! The 90s were absolutely everywhere you looked, and those of us who lived through it the first time simply couldn’t be more thrilled. This time around, there’s a soft sophistication to it that was absent in its first, grunge-inspired permutation. Gone are the dark Goth lips and the greasy unkempt hair, and in its place is a softer, more feminine, and a bit more folksy-eclectic vibe. Perfect. some...

Jennifer Garner Addresses Divorce And Ben Responds

Hearts broke around the world on that fateful day in June of 2015 when, on the day after their 10th wedding anniversary, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck announced their divorce. In a vague and predictable joint public statement the couple said, “After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding.” All the key words were there: co-parenting, going forward, love, privacy… after years of speculation about the status of their marriage, the couple finally confirmed what the public had...

Eat like a Celebrity: Healthy Foods You Should Try

Trendy superfoods are always emerging: acai, cayenne pepper, green tea, etc. We know we should eat high levels of antioxidants because they are good for our skin and hair and low in calories. But, those of us who have decided to take the plunge to go vegan, it is sometimes difficult to find and enjoy foods that do not contain butter, eggs, or dairy. What you eat determines the nutrients your body will absorb, or, build a deficiency. Fruits and vegetables will provide you with vitamins and minerals that will aid your skin. Be sure to get plenty of antioxidants as they fight free radicals and boost cell rejuvenation. Dairy has been linked to breakouts and is believed to cause oily skin, whole processed foods are chemically rich and can add stress. Everything comes down to diet. Whether it...

Maria Sharapova’s Case Continues to Deteriorate

Things just seem to be getting weirder with Maria Sharapova in the wake of her admission to doping with the recently-banned substance Meldonium. In what absolutely looked like a set-up pap stroll, the disgraced tennis star was spotted out and about in Santa Monica early last week, all but posing in her very visible Nike gear and “playing beach tennis” for all the world to see. If this doesn’t smack of some PR spin-control guru’s idea of how she will claw her way back into the public consciousness, I don’t know what does. But the public is declaring “not so fast Ms. Sharapova”. The rather vague and weak stories that she originally gave the press in the wake of her original announcement are already being picked-apart by the public, and it...

Maria Sharapova Found Guilty of Doping

In a turn of events that admittedly, few of us saw coming, it seems one of the shining stars of women’s tennis has taken a rather public tumble from grace. In a press conference yesterday, Sharapova admitted that she had tested positive for the drug Meldonium, which in January was placed on the banned substances list.  Sharapova has been taking the drug for years, allegedly for a magnesium deficiency, but claims that she didn’t know that the drug had been added to the banned substances list. Here is her statement she made at the press conference. I did fail the test. I take full responsibility for it. I made a huge mistake. I let my fans down. I let my sport down…I don’t want to end my career this way. … I know many of you thought I was retiring. But if I was ever going to...

Amy Adams is One of the Nicest People That Everyone Keeps Being Mean To

Not that this should come as a complete surprise to anyone who follows the goings-on in Hollywood, but apparently director David O. Russell (American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook) is a bit ol’ meanie, and his wrath was once turned on Amy Adams. In a recent interview with GQ magazine, A-lister Adams opened-up about the (apparently great) amount of difficulty she had working with the director on the set of American Hustle. Russell is notoriously hard on his actors, which some believe drives them to give the stunning performances that many of his films are known for. However, not everyone responds to his particular brand of tough love. When asked by GQ if the rumors that she cried every day on set were true, this is how Adams responded. I was really just devastated on set. I mean...

Ben Affleck Got a Massive Post-Breakup Back Tattoo, and It’s As Bad As You Think.

In what fellow gossip magazine D-listed called “a midlife crisis on Monster energy drink-infused roads”, it appears Ben Affleck has taken his nanny-humping, drinking-and-gambling, relationship-ending ways and translated them into a piece of wearable “art”. Affleck, who is only 43 (which is one year younger then myself and therefore waaaaay too young for a midlife crisis), has apparently gotten a giant tattoo of a Phoenix rising from the ashes. How original. Apparently Affleck was on set filming scenes for his project “Live by Night” when the paparazzi snapped him walking back to his trailer (still in costume), revealing the Phoenix tattoo. Sources…or perhaps I should say “sources”, tell Us Magazine that the tattoo is indeed real. And the...

DiCaprio for the Win. Finally.

Well ladies and gentlemen, it’s finally happened. All of the glad-handing and campaigning has paid-off for one Leonardo DiCaprio, because he is the proud owner of one shiny new Oscar! In case you’ve been living under a rock somewhere, DiCaprio was awarded Hollywood’s top prize for the film The Revenant, which was directed by Alejandro Innaritu, and widely predicted to be the favourite; a point on which The Academy did not disappoint. The fact that DiCaprio shilled hard for this win is such a well-known fact in Hollywood that the event’s organisers didn’t hesitate to poke a little fun at the situation by cutting-away to a shot of a bear sitting in the audience after one of the performance segments. The audience loved it, although both DiCaprio and Innaritu...
